Dear Editor:

We, as Gay Americans, have done more to promote homo.

obla by sitting on our apa thetic asses than all of the John Briggs and Anita Bryants. For too long, we've been content to exist in our secluded world of bars, baths, etc.

What, for example, does Society know about us? For the most part, nothing, except perhaps the negative media portray als of the Gay's of Chicago or the

Corell's of Houston!

In Cleveland, little or nothing has been done to set aside our negatiave image. Our ficdging "Gay Pride" marches are remin iscent of those 60's demonstra tions, in which "confrontation politics" were the arena for demanding rights. Then, like now, Middle America turned off. Why? Probably because it is sick of demands and tired, after wars. riots, and rhetoric, of all that has reminded them of a negative

Yet, in Cleveland's Gay Community, plans are under way for another "solidarity" march. Here in a Gay community which so flagrantly discriminates against its own minorities! We haven't got our own shit together, but we are ready to parade with catchy placards asking for social acccptance through mass media coverage. We are willing to sell ourselves for free media hype. But we CAN'T buy what we want! 'WE MUST WORK FOR IT! ..

The time is at hand for all of us contribute some of our precious extra-curricular time by getting off our collective asses and chan neling our energies. Into,CON.< STRUCTUVE socio-political

activities. We must broaden and that strengthen our base of support.

Let us build a new tradition of solidarity and GAY PRIDE, a tra dition of oputting aside a few moments of our spare time to build a quality life by promoting our good will throughout the entire community and dispelling our misunderstood Image!

A grand jury has been set up to investigate the rebellion. Some of our sisters and brothers may be indicted. The Detroit-Ann The March On Washington Arbor Organizing Committee For stands behind our sisters and. brothers. The courts may claim
